A really old poem (8th grade) : Confirmation
A whole new world received her,
As she opened up her eyes,
She found her courage and her strength,
And quickly realized; Her childhood had abandoned her,
Like the dead skin of a snake,
And she saw what lay ahead of her,
As her shadow surfed her wake.
She took a step with an eager will,
And greeted a beautiful day,
Her heart leapt off the window sill,
And she followed it away.
The world seemed so big and confusing,
With her childhood left behind,
For a second she wanted to find it again,
But she knew that she had to move on.
She did not know where her soul would lead her,
With decisions at every turn,
But she journeyed on with daring steps ,
And knew she had much to learn.
